Hi,
I've posted all the artwork I intend to post in the
Ancient Portraits series. I want to thank all of you who joined me while I populated the gallery, who commented on the artwork and who helped popularize the artwork by collecting favorites.
One request. If you feel the collection as a whole has some merit, please also collect the entire
Ancient Portraits folder. This gives it a chance of appearing in the "Collections" gallery listed on the main navigation of most pages.
I intend to keep posting old and new artwork. Old artwork will appear in my
Early Works gallery. If I can get some decent scans from my slides, I may create a new gallery for photographs taken around 1990. I also have some interesting photos from college. These might go into the
Early Works gallery or may need their own folder.
I'm still learning about deviantArt. I looked through my watcher's stats and I see that they have from a low of 100 to a high of 85,342 page views. Quality and number of artworks don't necessarily correlate with page views. For instance, look at
hexed666's gallery (29 deviations/226 pageviews) or
deathtrout's gallery (46 deviations/101 pageviews). Nice art, low pageviews.
Update 5/24/2009: I think this is confusing, but when you reach a profile page and see the number of favorites and pageviews, that number seems to refer to be the artist's favorites and pageviews, not how often the artist's works have been collected or see. You have to go into the stats module, which is not usually accessible (except for your own). So all the numbers quote above aren't quite right.Pageviews don't add to the popularity of a piece (my most viewed work is
Huntress in Fantasy Setting"!), but if it doesn't get seen, it can't become popular.
I hope that people continue to find my
Ancient Portraits collection, even without the daily additions. We'll see how that goes.
Thanks again, everyone. It's nice to have the art do more than sit in storage.
